Carmel’s art is evident everywhere!  The home she designed with her husband is one of the smartest, most incredibly forward thinking plans I’ve ever had the pleasure to enjoy.  She picked out the best creamy yellow paint color of all time for her walls.  She’s a real rock garden artist and a bog garden artist.  Many of the iris she divides in fall or spring have ended up in one of our trunks to transport them across the bog to plunk them back down in my garden.  I don’t think those iris even know that they were moved!

Carmel’s artistic creations extend to textile mediums of fabric and yarn.  Her purse has been memorialized in my children’s book.   Quilted black fabric, with chartreuse fringe.  Wow!  You need fun things to get through the long winters in Alaska, and Carmel knows how to make ‘em.

Her art isn’t always for sale, though sometimes she can part with some plants or a trough, but I don’t care, you still need to know about this amazing Across the Bog artist!  After all, one day you might see a picture of one of her rock garden troughs in the Anchorage Daily News, or a magazine, or meet her at a rock garden conference or garden club plant sale, and I want you to know that you are talking to one of our boggy bunch.
